Armenia Solid Waste Project – Project Feasibility Assessment
The overall objective of the EBRD-funded project is to support the development of an integrated, sustainable and financially viable municipal solid waste management system in Armenia, through the preparation of a Priority Investment Programme.
The project will establish a baseline, identify service and infrastructure needs, evaluate investment options and prepare a prioritized programme of waste management improvements. Key activities include:
-
Establish the baseline and forecast future demand through collection and analysis of data on population, waste generation, collection services, treatment and disposal facilities, costs, revenues and existing plans;
-
Consult ministries, municipalities and other stakeholders, and undertake site visits to assess existing conditions and potential locations for waste management infrastructure;
-
Evaluate alternative technical options and identify priority investments;
-
Assess investment and operating costs, financing and affordability, and the institutional and operational arrangements needed for implementation;
-
Integrate relevant environmental, social and climate findings, and coordinate with related studies and projects, including the Yerevan project and its environmental and social due diligence;
-
Prepare the Public Investment Management Package.
